AMA reaches agreement with Aspen Aerogels to settle patent dispute
AMA S.p.A. and AMA Composites S.r.l. (collectively, “AMA”), members of the consolidated Italy-based AMA Group, active in the automotive, building and construction sectors, announced today that they have reached an agreement with Aspen Aerogels, Inc. (“Aspen”) to settle patent litigation before the Court of Genoa.
This settlement ends legal action taken by Aspen against AMA over the alleged unauthorized sale of aerogel insulation materials, which Aspen believed infringed on its European patents. AMA had counterclaimed by objecting that Aspen’s patents were invalid and not infringed. Although both sides remain convinced of the merits of each other’s positions, they agreed to find a mutually acceptable agreement to close the issue.
The end of this dispute has no impact on the present and future business of either party, nor on the characteristics of the products marketed by each party.
